I Need This Today!

Here is another batch of my pictures from "The Best Trip EVER!" And seriously, I really need something to pick up my spirits today. Ever get the feeling you are trying your best yet still failing miserably at everything you do? Well, I guess that's why it's called Domestic Chaos!
And now for the mood changers!
This has to be one of my favorite pictures! Just bask in the kitschy-ness!

Seligman, AZ is just a blip on the Route 66 trail, but it sure makes a statement!

Grand Canyon. Everyone needs to go there at least once in their life!
My hair looks freakishly neon

This was at Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. Very steep trail

On the other side of the Sunset Crater park, there are some stunning ruins in the Wopatki National Ruins park.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!

For The Sake of My Sanity

I must say that being in blog land last week was just about killing me! I am not usually a very jealous person, but dang it, I really wanted to go to VLV again this year! Unfortunately, the finances were just not there. So lucky you, you get to relive the best vacation I've ever had in my life just to make me feel a little better.
Last year, my boyfriend, John, and I decided to go to VLV for the first time. As if that wasn't enough, we figured that if we were going to take the chance to go out west, we would take a road trip down Route 66!

First we flew into VEGAS, experienced old Vegas a bit, then got our rental car.
Whoo Hoo! We were officially on Route 66. A nice couple, calling themselves "the fun police" actually pulled over to take our picture in front of the sign. Kinda funny!

We drove down the loneliest, most beautiful stretch of Route 66, between Needles, CA and Oatman, AZ, listening to Slim Whitman's Indian Love Call. So cliche. I love it!
If you are looking for a outlaw western town, Oatman is the place! No kidding, these donkeys that run around the town are left over from when it was an old mining town.

Right outside of Oatman was, by far, the most romantic lookout I've ever seen!

Well, that was the first leg of the trip. I will be showing more photos this week.

The "Hey Your Shirt's On Backwards" Shirt

I was so excited when I finished this shirt last night, so I threw it on, and walked out to show it off to my boyfriend. The reaction I got was NOT what I was hoping for!

He was sure that I had put the shirt on backwards. When I tried explaining that it was the style of it, and ran to get the pattern to prove him wrong, he exclaimed that they all looked like they had backwards shirts on. Grrr.
So I guess the moral of this little rant is that boys don't know what they're talking about when it comes to what looks good! So there.

What sort of sewing projects are you working on?

An Atomic Print To Call My Own

Who doesn't love atomic prints?
The only problem I have with them is that the fabric that you find is either sort of cheesy looking or way out of my budget. So I decided to use some of my long-lost drawing abilities to sketch my own atomic print.
After a couple of drafts, I scanned my little doodles into the computer and played with the arrangement on Publisher.
Here it is! All I ask is for people to respect the fact that this design is for a future business attempt. So please do not try to replicate it.

What do you guys think? Would you guys like to see this as a fabric print in the future?

Freak Weather Fun Days

So it is mid-March and we are having the most unbelievably nice weather this last week! It's really hard to believe that a little over a week ago, we had 4 inches of snow.
Oh well, I am surely taking full advantage of it!!!

-I am starting seeds for my new garden. So excited!

It's finally warm -enough for my boy and me to enjoy our favorite thing to do together. SKATEBOARDING!
(Excuse the dorky stance on skateboard. Wasn't expecting pic)

-Yippee!
I missed hiking at Glacial Park.

My pseudo-model -pose.

 My first outfit post.

Highwaisted pants: made by me (more on that later)

Off-the-shoulder Top: made by me

I really hope everyone else is having as nice of weather and having a great weekend!

Rock 'n' Roll Art

I had originally planned on making this beauty a back patch, but the thought of having some drunk at a concert spill beer on it immediately made me decide to make it ART!
The more I think about it, the more I can't believe it might have had another fate.
The sucker is hand painted, embroidered, and appliqued.
I think I might have gone overboard, what do ya think!?

Crazy Cooking Marathon

Phew, that was exhausting!
I have always found meal planning very appealing, but my impatience and organizational disabilities have always gotten in the way. So tonight I finally cracked and just cooked everything I could to throw together meals for the rest of the week, and ended up with a pretty good spread that happens to be completely gluten, dairy-free!
Top to Bottom
-Apricot Chicken-
-Shredded Chicken Tacos w/ Homemade Taco Seasoning-
-Spanish Rice From Scratch-
-"Can't Live Without It" Enchilada Sauce-

I also made some Kale Chips and a Berry Spinach Smoothie for good measure!

PS- I hope some of these look good to you cause' the recipes are coming!

Everyone Has One...An Addiction

Well, here we are, after the mother-of-all unproductive weekends. I was really hoping to show off a finished motorcycle jacket, but between a b-day party, a car show, a concert, bowling, and hanging out with long-lost friends, somehow I couldn't find time to sew!
Oh well, its time to approach more serious issues.
What a mess, right!
I am addicted to Salvation Army
Unfortunately, I am physically unable to not bring home an article of clothing that has lovely fabric. Even if it isn't my style, I always figure I can make it into something more loveable. As you can see, I have my work cut out for me!

Does anyone else have this problem?
